Who is a Typical Client of IAM Financial?

We primarily work with two different groups of clients:

The First group are clients who may come from a wide variety of occupations, but they all have one thing in common: they want to make sure that they are on track to retire.

Clients in this situation are usually either Do-It-Yourself (DIY) investors or currently work with an advisor that they are beginning to question. Either way, they have arrived at a point where they no longer feel comfortable with their financial plan and they want a second opinion.

These clients have no idea how much they are paying in fees, or how taxes may be adversely impacting their plan. They may have spoken with other advisors, but find these advisors are primarily concerned with insurance, and wants to change all, or a large portion of their portfolio to annuities or life insurance products.

These clients want someone to double check their current financial plan, and point them in the direction they need to be headed to retire on time. We strive to provide the most objective advice by being independent, fee-only fiduciaries to our clients.

The Second group of clients we work with tend to be busy, family-orientated, dual income, Small Business Owners (retailers, salon owners, auto repair shop, stage set-up) and Professionals (IT Professionals, Engineers, Doctors) that lack the time, desire, or expertise to give their finances the attention they deserve. They want to find a professional that will put their interest first and organize and simplify their lives.

Both groups of clients are financially comfortable, and living well within/below their means, our clients pay themselves first, and their bills and credit cards on time. They typically have little or no debt and are financially comfortable in life.

Our clients typically face life situations and issues such as the need to:

  • Determine what needs to be done now to secure a comfortable retirement
  • Create a reliable source of income in retirement
  • Shift from the accumulation to the preservation stage with their investment plan

Many times they are looking to delegate their financial lives so they can focus on what they enjoy most, such as travel, owning a vacation home, and giving back to their family, charity (often times PBS and NPR) or other heirs. Our retained clients typically have a nest egg of at least $600,000 or more, and while they may be capable of managing it themselves, they value the services of a professional. They are advisable, easy going and generally comfortable with who they are and where they are in life.

We work with clients who aspire for self improvement and a greater sense of balance in their lives. Our clients tend to be health conscious, often times runners that encourage natural and organic foods, and place a high value on growth and the human spirit. At this point in their life, they are aiming to secure their family’s future. They hire us as a partner with the intention of seeking an experienced opinion on financial decisions and handing over day-to-day financial management of investments to make sure their loved ones are provided for.

IAM Financial provides a “one-stop comprehensive financial planning experience” for clients who are capable, intelligent decision makers interested in increasing their financial education. They understand the difference between financial planning and investing, and recognize the distinction between temporary setbacks in the market and still being focused on their goals.
